September 2011 - Finance Minister Hon. Tonio Fenech visited the Medavia on the official launch of the Medavia EASA Part 21 design organisation.

During the visit the Minister visited the Design office and he also toured the Medavia hangar facility that was completed less than a year ago.

The Medavia General Managers explained that the losses incurred by Medavia throughout the Libya crisis "were not insignificant". Mr Joe Formosa, General Manager Finance and Administration added that prospects, however, were looking good as oil companies have started to return to Libya. "We will recover," Mr Formosa said confidently.

The Company worked hard to contain costs and it did not lay off any of its more than 100 workers, however, through government assistance, it deferred a number of tax payments to mitigate the effect on its cash flow. Medavia utilised this period to obtain international certification that allows it to carry out innovative engineering and design changes on large and small aircraft. It also invested in new workshops and offices at its hangar in the Safi Aviation Park.
Hon Fenech congratulated Medavia for using this period to train its staff and to aid humanitarian efforts.
July 2011 - Following months of hard work Medavia has finally reached its goal and attained an approval as an EASA Part 21 design organisation. This attainment enhances the capabilities of the Company that has been actively involved for a number of years in the design and installation of customised installations for aircraft. Medavia is now geared up and approved to offer a holistic design, approval and installation service that was previously not available in the Mediterranean region. The Design team can also offer engineering consultancy and training.
